HP Stream data recovery
We recover files from all 6 HP Stream models (sold 2015–2020), including the Stream 11-r, Stream 11-y, Stream 11-ah and Stream 14-ax, at our London SE1 lab. They have storage soldered to the motherboard. Common causes of data loss are a failed drive, liquid, drops and accidental deletion.
Where your files are
The HP Stream has its storage (eMMC flash) soldered to the motherboard. There is no drive to take out, so if the laptop won’t start we repair the board itself to bring the data back.
This series comes in 11.6 and 14-inch versions; the size is part of the model number. The Stream stores everything on eMMC flash soldered to the motherboard.

What’s wrong with it?

| Liquid damage | Switch off and leave it off. Board cleaning and repair is the route to the data. |

Switch it off. Don’t keep restarting a laptop that clicks, freezes or won’t start, and don’t reset Windows.

Can you recover data from an HP Stream that won’t turn on?
Yes, in most cases, by repairing the motherboard, because the storage is soldered to it. We diagnose the board first and tell you the price before any work starts.
Is my data encrypted?
Possibly. Many Windows 10 and 11 laptops switch on device encryption or BitLocker automatically. The recovery key is saved in your Microsoft account at aka.ms/myrecoverykey. With the key, encryption doesn’t stop the recovery.
How long does it take?
Most logical recoveries take two to four working days. Drives that need cleanroom work or board repair take longer, and we can prioritise urgent jobs.
